Software development manager 

Hybrid (Derby, 3 days per week).

We are pleased to offer a great opportunity for a talented, motivated and outgoing Software Development Manager to help maintain our client’s growth.

The Software Development Manager will be a key member of the Software Development team, reporting to the Head of Software Development you will be responsible for delivering products on time and that meet the standards expected by our client's worldwide customer base.

Role Requirements:

  • Responsible for providing leadership to one or more development teams, who will be working on the design and development of new products and maintenance of the existing product line.
  • Working Closely with the Software Architect you and your team will develop new products in accordance with agreed requirements and design specifications, ensuring a high level of product quality and reliability.
  • Work closely with Product Management and Software Architect to distil (often disparate) requirements into Features and Product Backlog Items suitable for feeding into multiple agile development teams.
  • Accountable for ensuring team backlogs are visible, clear and prioritised to maximise output and value of the development teams.
  • Accountable for the estimation of development activities and the creation and management of a delivery plan, to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Reporting of progress against the delivery plan.
  • Responsible for managing the agile development process, including facilitating the daily stand-up, Sprint planning, Sprint review and retrospective, to ensure on-time delivery of development programmes.
  • Work with and develop the team, by setting a good example in all areas (Commitment to timescales, Positive attitude etc).
  • Responsible for the performance management of a team(s) of software/firmware developers and testers.
  • Demonstrate domain knowledge and share this across the team(s).

Key Skills:

  • Broad and extensive knowledge of the SDLC process and its supporting technologies.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent problem-solving and risk management skills.
  • Must have the ability to successfully engage with managers and stakeholders at all levels within the business.
  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-managing to meet demands across multiple teams wherever possible.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps would be beneficial.
