Role
As a CAD draughtsman/woman you will work alongside the Designer and Operations Manager and take complete responsibility for aspects of planning, coordination, administration and delivery of the post design phase of all internal and external projects

Duties and responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the production of working drawings, set out plans and CNC path drawings with the help of the workshop foreman
  • Take full responsibility for the production of detailed graphic plans and assist with basic artwork
  • Read and refer to the event manual
  • Maintain information on the project planner
  • Project administration and information gathering
  • Proactively research suppliers, materials and technologies and collate and present information to the team
  • Proactively research new ideas in design and share with the team
  • Attend shows and event build-ups (project and non-project related) for research purposes
  • Attend internal briefing and client meetings
  • Proactively liaise with suppliers, contractors and specialists
  • Take responsibility for liaising with the rest of the team throughout the drawing phase as required for the effective completion of the project
  • Take full responsibility for the preparation of working drawings for handover to project manager
  • Proactively search for material samples for reference and take full ownership for the sample area
  • Responsibility for keeping the stock catalogue up to date
  • Take full responsibility for other projects, as requested by Operations Manager
  • Liaising with event organisers to submit working/technical drawings, risk assessments and method statements

Skills and experience

  • Experience in 3D Dimensional design essential
  • A qualification in 3D design preferred but not essential
  • Experience of working in the Exhibitions and Events industry preferred but not essential
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Working knowledge of Sketchup/Layout
  • Communication skills – oral and written
  • Excellent time management skills & Attention to detail
  • Passionate about customer service
  • Ability to liaise with suppliers, contractors and specialists
  • Good team working skills, Adaptable and flexible
  • Commercial awareness, Ability to use own initiative when working alone
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong, diplomatic interpersonal skills, both in person, on the phone and in writing. Driven and motivated to get the job done and not easily distracted
