Location: Home – based at home with ad hoc visits to our office in York.

Senior Data Analyst

Purpose of Job:

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for leading the development and delivery of data-driven solutions to support Family Fund's strategic and operational objectives and promoting a culture of data literacy and excellence across the organisation.

The Senior Data Analyst will play a key role in the design and implementation of the data warehouse, working closely with data architecture colleagues.  The post-holder will oversee and contribute to the creation and dissemination of performance dashboards and reports to meet a range of business purposes and provide advanced data analysis and insights to inform decision-making and improvement.

The post carries line management responsibility for the Performance Data Analyst, including workload management, coaching and support.
Duties and responsibilities

Developing products to meet business needs

·        Liaise effectively with colleagues from various functions and departments, to understand their data needs and requirements.

·        Working with the Performance Data Analyst, use Power BI, DAX and other relevant technologies, to produce and maintain a suite of dashboards and reports that provide relevant, reliable, and actionable information to various stakeholders across the organisation.

·        Conduct advanced data analysis and modelling, to provide insights into trends, patterns, correlations, outliers, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.

·        Communicate data findings and recommendations effectively to senior leaders and decision-makers, using clear and compelling data visualisations, narratives, and presentations.

·        Manage and take ownership of the ad-hoc data request process, ensuring efficient and accurate delivery.

Data warehouse

·        Work collaboratively with the Head of Data Architecture in the design and development of a data warehouse, ensuring that it meets the current and future needs of the organisation, and that it adheres to best practices in data quality, security, and governance.

·        Develop a strong understanding of, and contribute to, the data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from various data sources, supporting in ensuring that data is accurate, consistent, and timely.

 
Embedding knowledge and standards

·        Establish and implement data reporting and visualisation standards and guidelines for the organisation, ensuring that data is presented in a consistent, clear, and user-friendly manner.

·        Promote a common understanding of data definitions and ensure that data is used consistently and effectively across the organisation.

·        Foster a culture of data literacy and excellence across the organisation, by providing training, coaching and advice on data analysis and visualisation best practices, tools, and techniques.

·        Demonstrate best practice in data ethics, security, and compliance at all times.


Driving innovation

·        Identify and explore new and innovative ways of using data and data visualisation to enhance performance, efficiency, and impact.

·        Keep up to date with the latest developments and trends in data analysis and visualisation and incorporate these developments into the organisation's practices as appropriate.

·        Contribute to the development of data analytics within the organisation.

Management

·        Produce a data analytics workplan, and manage the workload ensuring deadlines are met.

·        Line-manage the Performance Data Analyst, setting clear and achievable objectives, and regularly evaluating performance against these goals.

·        Provide technical leadership to the Performance Data Analyst, ensuring that they have the skills, knowledge, and support to deliver high-quality data solutions.

·        Contribute to continuous improvement as part of the Performance and Improvement team.

The successful candidate must complete pre-employment checks that meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, including a requirement to undergo a basic level DBS criminal record check, right to work check and employment history verification.
