Product Lead required to join a global Professional Services business based in Central London. However, this is practically a remote role, but when travel is required (to London, Europe and the States on occasions), you will be reimbursed for your travel and accommodation. People from a Professional Services, Big 4, LLP, Partnership, Banking & Finance business (or something like for like) background will be considered ONLY. Also, this being the case, you must have been heavily involved in huge, significant products that have heavy business impact. You will be dealing with stakeholders as high as the Managing Partner and COO, for instance. 

This is basically the largest digital product that is used globally by this particular company. However, it is heavily governed in a regulated environment, so we are ideally looking for someone who has owed products that are surrounded by governance.

There are so many moving parts in this role that we will need you to have had exposure to the following areas/people:

  • Testers
  • Developers
  • Project Managers
  • Business Analysts
  • 3rd Party Vendors

You would need to have the ability to drive meetings with all of these areas. 

 
Aside from a strong, positive personality and driven/passion to do the “right thing” for the product, key attributes are:

  • Strong PO experience – which is demonstrable in interview; clear application of real-life examples of “doing the work” 
    • Previous candidates have been guilty of speaking about the PO Lead role without expressing what they were actually doing (not enough examples/scenarios and thought to apply to our client’s situation)
    • This highlights that a key skill required in this role, namely the ability to express the relevant information and the right level of detail 
  • Needs to demonstrate being able to take ownership of the product roadmap (“run the show, own the stage”)
    • Someone who has enough ‘presence’, ability and a solid way of working that senior stakeholders listen to and the teams understand ‘owns’ the product
  • MUST have experience of professional services, LLP, Partnership (big 4 experience would be preferred), Banking & Finance
    • Solid exposure and appreciation of how to manage a complex stakeholder / governance structure
    • This also relates to being able to manage the business stakeholders, and is able to drive consensus 
    • Knowledge of audit would be an absolute bonus!
  • Managing products at scale – both in terms of application complexity, but also in terms of development size (eg. Multiple teams, geographically dispersed)

As stated, we need this person to have hardened Stakeholder Management skills, who can manage stakeholders globally and sometimes attend face to face meetings in the likes of the UK, America, Belgium, the Netherlands and France. We also need someone who is tech-heavy in their experience and has managed significant platforms in the past from a Product perspective.
