2nd Line Engineer
£34,000 - £38,000 plus benefits

My client is a highly successful IT company who have been named as one of Britain’s TOP 50 Best Managed IT Companies. They have a fantastic working environment and an excellent reputation.

Due to expansion, they are looking for an experienced Level 2 Technical Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis, to be responsible for resolving escalated issues and client project work.  

2nd Line Engineer – Duties:

• Documentation of client networks and small projects
• Backup maintenance
• Configuration of standard mail and messaging clients including Outlook
• Installation, configuration, troubleshooting and customisation of Office 365
• Installation and management of Microsoft SharePoint and SharePoint permission management
• Understanding of and ability to install, configure and test workstation hardware including video cards, NICs, sound cards, hard drives, smartphones, and tablets.
• Azure Server – Experience preferred with Azure Virtual Server, Azure AD
• Configure file, print, and remote access services
• Administration, including add/remove users and groups from both cloud and on-premises directory systems, configure file permissions, and check event logs
• Configure and restore from backup
• Administration of enterprise e-mail application, including add/remove users and group, configure folder permissions if applicable, forward mail to other accounts, and add aliases

2nd Line Engineer – Over to you! Our ideal candidate will have;

• Experience with Windows/ Mac desktop operating systems.
• Excellent experience with SharePoint, Azure AD and the full Microsoft Office 365 suite, including the admin portal, licensing and SharePoint permissions.
• Good knowledge and experience with network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, DNS services, routers, switches, firewalls (SonicWall preferred), VPN’s, VLAN, troubleshooting network issues, configuring network devices and implementing network security measures.
• Knowledge and understanding of security principles, best practices and compliance requirements, including security protocols, access controls, vulnerability management and implementing security measures to protect systems and data.
• Experience with anti-virus products (Sophos / Heimdal etc.).
• Experience with Cisco switching, VLAN, routing, firewalling support.
• Experience with mobile device support for Apple and Android IOS.  
• Knowledge of Google Workspace or M365, Excel, Word, Teams and PowerPoint.
• At least one IT certification. The following certifications are preferred: M365 Foundations or Associate, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Cisco CCNA/CCDA/CCNP, Project+, Network+, Security+, Apple etc.,
