Senior Network Engineer

- Design and implement cloud networking architectures, considering scalability, performance, security, and cost optimization.
- Configure and manage virtual networks, subnets, routing tables, gateways, and other networking components in a cloud environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system administrators, and security professionals, to ensure seamless integration of networking infrastructure with cloud applications and services.
- Implement network security measures, such as firewalls, access control lists (ACLs), and virtual private networks (VPNs), to protect cloud resources from unauthorized access and data breaches.
- Monitor network performance, analyse traffic patterns, and optimize network configurations to ensure high availability and low latency for cloud-based applications.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cloud network infrastructure.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in cloud networking, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization's infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cloud service providers and vendors to evaluate, implement, and integrate new networking technologies and services.
- Participate in capacity planning activities to ensure the cloud network infrastructure can accommodate future growth and increasing workload demand.
- Strong people skills, with the ability to develop strong working relationships.
- Proficient in understanding Network Architecture, the frameworks and principles on which networks, systems, equipment, and resources are based, both on-premises and cloud-based.
- Advise and work with less experienced colleagues in all aspects of current and correct operational practice and delegate responsibility for conducting specific tasks to individuals as appropriate.
- Experience with Meraki SD WAN, Meraki Wireless, Cisco ACI Networks, Palo Alto firewalls, VPN Global protect, and Legacy Cisco switch and WLC.
- Deep understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF).
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, and familiarity with their networking services (e.g., Amazon VPC, Azure Virtual Network).
- Strong proficiency in network configuration and management tools, such as Cisco ACI, Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in a distributed cloud environment.
- Knowledge of network security concepts and best practices, including firewall configuration, access control, and encryption protocols.
- Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and network virtualization technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Relevant certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or equivalent, are a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Team Telephony with Direct Routing SBC.
- Degree educated in Computer Science related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with Nutanix HCI, and Cloudflare services.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong working relationships.
- Experience working in cross-functional product teams and employing an agile mindset and principles.
- Experience working in an ISO27001 environment.
- Experience with other cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), along with the ability to compare different cloud services and architectures.
Work Environment:
- As a place-based organisation, we expect all staff to spend some time working in the office. For this this role the postholder is expected to spend 2 days per week working in our offices in London on a flexible basis.
