SQL Database Administrator (DBA) - £550-£600 per day - Outside IR35 - Primarily remote - 3 months initial contract. Working on an ad hoc / requirement basis.

My client, a leading technology company and specialist in the design, build, support and management of the UK’s critical digital infrastructure, is seeking a talented and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in SQL, to join them on a contract basis.

The role will primarily focus on managing on-premise databases, ensuring their efficiency, security, and reliability. In addition to SQL, the ideal candidate will possess strong skills in Tableau, replication, query optimization, ETL updates, and transitioning from legacy SQL versions. Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage on-premise SQL database solutions to support various business applications and processes.
Optimize SQL queries and database performance to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing.
Implement and maintain Tableau dashboards for data visualization and reporting purposes.
Configure and manage database replication to ensure data consistency and availability across multiple servers.
Perform ETL updates and transformations to integrate data from various sources into the SQL databases.
Conduct regular performance tuning and optimization activities to enhance database efficiency and scalability.
Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of database systems with other IT infrastructure components.
Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations from legacy versions to newer versions of SQL Server.
Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data.
Provide technical support and guidance to team members and end-users as needed.

Requirements:

Proven work experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong emphasis on on-premise SQL database management.
Advanced skills in SQL programming, including complex query optimization, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
Proficiency in database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization techniques.
Strong expertise in Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
Experience configuring and managing database replication for high availability and disaster recovery.
Hands-on experience with ETL tools and processes for data integration.
Ability to plan and execute database upgrades and migrations from legacy versions to newer versions of SQL Server.
Familiarity with database security best practices and procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant certifications in SQL database administration (e.g., Microsoft Certified: SQL Database Administrator) are a plus.
Experience with other database platforms such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and technologies.
