Hardware Project Manager

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Hardware Project Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering and a proven track record of delivering hardware projects on time, within budget, and to specification. This role will involve collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution while adhering to company processes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of custom development projects, ensuring they are properly planned, resourced, and executed in line with internal processes.
  • Assist with proposals and project justification by gathering and reviewing preliminary information from stakeholders such as customers, GBM's, and Engineers.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive Project Management Plan, identifying project scope, tasks, milestones, deliverables, budget, stakeholders, risks, and other key information.
  • Construct and maintain project schedules using an appropriate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), tracking progress against baseline and ensuring completion of all tasks.
  • Monitor project costs against the agreed budget, calculating Cost to Completion (CTC) and reporting any deviations to management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to produce and confirm comprehensive project requirements, ensuring appropriate verification and documentation of system performance and characteristics.
  • Manage project-related risks by identifying, documenting, assessing, and mitigating them where possible, escalating to senior management when necessary.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external gateway reviews, recording and completing all actions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with internal and external customer standards and procedures.
  • Deliver customer-specific project documentation including manuals, manufacturing record books, interface specifications, handling/storage procedures, and test & inspection plans.
  • Provide timely and thorough targeted communication to all those with a direct and indirect interest, including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake project closeout reviews to gather lessons learned that can be fed back into improvements in processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in project management, specifically within the hardware industry.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and procedures.
