Infrastructure engineer – Linux

Mainstay is proud to represent a leading IT solutions company on an expansion drive and is keen to bring in an experienced infrastructure engineer with Linux systems experience to join the team.

As an infrastructure engineer, you will join a team of like-minded individuals and become a valued addition to a company that values the internal growth and development of its staff.

You will respond to and resolve escalated technical issues, ensuring seamless operations. You will also actively contribute to planning and deploying innovative solutions using open-source technologies. Your role includes serving as an escalation point for scheduled operations, such as patching, and guaranteeing that all Linux components adhere to security and operational best practices. Collaboration with monitoring teams is essential to measure and analyse metrics, maintaining a healthy and secure Linux estate.

The successful infrastructure engineer will have the following key skills:
  • Proficient in managing and maintaining Linux environments, including RHEL / CentOS 6, 7, and 8.
  • Experience with open-source management and automation toolsets such as Puppet, Ansible, and Foreman.
  • Familiarity with Linux patching systems and processes, including Spacewalk and satellite.
  • Expertise in application management and distribution across Linux estates.
  • Fantastic communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to gain SC clearance.
