Senior Frontend Developer – React, Next.js

Up to £90k + share options

Remote (UK Based only)

middle has partnered exclusively again with one of the UK’s most exciting start-up businesses. After successfully raising their first round of funding, they are looking to hire one of the first engineers on the team.

As an early-stage developer, you will be involved in the greenfield project; to develop and maintain new products and applications that enable businesses to make financial decisions.

You will work closely with the CTO and Head of Engineering. Both have been known to progress Developers to the very top and have incredibly impressive backgrounds! A great opportunity for an ambitious Developer, who wants an opportunity within a FinTech start-up!

Tech Stack:

• At least 5 years experience developing front-end web applications
• High proficiency with Next.js (app directory implementation ideally)
• Ideally have experience in Next.js version 13, 13.4 and 14. If not, understand latest versions
• Demonstrable, high-quality implementations of TypeScript
• Expert in React, able to identify re-rendering and cycling props issues
• Understanding of design systems (storybook) and component libraries (Material UI)
• Keen eye for detail and user experience, including animations
• Can articulate WCAG accessibility requirements
• Implement effective GraphQL front-end implementations
• Managing a git repository effectively using git flow
• Unit testing using jest
• Manage continuous integration pipelines with Azure DevOps

This role will best suit:

• The perfectionist developer – someone who cares about coding quality!
• Commercially savvy – help make commercial decisions and come forward with practical ideas on the Tech Stack!
• Good communicator – You will be forced to collaborate with stakeholders both internally and externally!
• Previous start-up/scale-up experience and Financial Services sector experience would be a benefit, but not an essential.

There will not be a Technical Test/Challenge in this process. However, we will ask you to showcase projects that you can talk the CTO and Head of Engineering through.
