  • The Lead Business Architect role sits within Technology - Strategy & Architecture - Enterprise Architecture Consulting, that is responsible for the overall architecture for the client’s business divisions. The role will lead business architecture activity on significant projects, programmes and strategic initiatives of high complexity, adding value to a wide range of business and technology stakeholders across.

  • Engagements will include working with specific divisions and Change Delivery teams. The products & services generated must both cohere with strategic enterprise stands and meet the business customer’s needs while ensuring fit and integrity across other divisions.

  • This role sits within a squad of technical and business architects. This is a senior role with potential to serve as squad lead as needs arise depending on skills and experience.

What you will be doing 

  • Provide an approach and framework to help the business divisions identify how they want to run their business to deliver the clients’s vision and their strategic objectives, applying the appropriate strategic analysis models and methods to deconstruct a problem to identify, clarify and articulate change.
  • Translate business strategy into a practical business architecture products & services that achieve the outcomes, aligning with supervision, policy, competition, enforcement or market oversight, risk, or general counsel etc.).
  • Provide recommendation & assurance to senior stakeholders (including SLT) and various Design Authorities to resolve cross-divisional impacts, and ensuring a standard approach and quality of design work across the organisation. 
  • Identifying opportunities for business innovation and shape design proposals for executing them; driving innovation within the business where this delivers quick wins and business benefit and is in the boundary of the business architecture roadmap.
  • Discovering, challenging, recommending, and articulating operating model change, strategic questions and responses to achieve strategic goals. 
  • Own and deliver business aligned consistent architecture products, e.g. business architecture roadmap, capability model and value maps, Target Operating Models (TOMs), high level designs, impact and risk assessments in accordance with agreed standards, which detail the key components the organisation needs, the scale of the change and the transition required to achieve its target state and deliver its strategic and business objectives.
  • Contribute to the relevant communities of practice, providing thought leadership, coaching and mentoring of other employees to build the overall business architecture capability within Technology Division.

The skills and experience you’ll have  

Minimum 

  • Experienced business architect either in professional services, financial services, or the public sector / regulated environment.

  • Experience in conducting market, customer and value assessments and using insights to shape business architecture in support of business strategies.

  • Experience of designing target operating models for large/medium organisations and leading business areas through the development and execution of their strategy through business architecture.

  • Provide oversight and guidance of work of associates business architects.

  • Exceptional communication skills, able and willing to describe and negotiate complex and detailed solutions with a variety of stakeholders.
  • A proactive and creative thinker, whilst grounded in the use of analysis tools and frameworks to solve problems and innovate. Able to work with imperfect information in an environment of uncertainty whilst still maintaining high standards, producing outputs that consider regulatory and organisational change requirements, whilst aligning to divisional and enterprise strategies.

Essential  

  • Expertise in architectural frameworks and concepts, methodologies and approaches i.e. capability maps, value chain analysis, value creation and business models and experience in the use of enterprise architecture tooling.

  • Good facilitator, drawing out problems, active listening skills, involving and gaining commitment from the relevant stakeholders in the business with credibility and gravitas to establish trust, gaining consensus and buy-in, orchestrating engagement and collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Open, curious, collaborative, can-do attitude.

  • Experience with formal Architecture methodologies (e.g. TOAGF, BizBoK)
