The Role

As a Senior Energy Trader your primary responsibility will be to monitor and action the trading operations of gas and power markets for our client baskets. You will be responsible for monitoring market trends, developing trading strategies, executing trades, and providing insightful market reports to support decision-making processes.

The role reports into the consultancy operations team at ZTP.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Market Analysis and Reporting:

*Conduct daily research and analysis of gas and power markets, including supply and demand fundamentals, pricing trends, regulatory developments, and geopolitical factors.

*Check technical analysis such as RSI and MACD.

*Prepare accurate and concise daily market reports, summarizing key market movements, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and providing actionable insights to stakeholders.

Trading Strategy Development:

*Develop, review and implement trading strategies with clients to optimize energy procurement, minimize market risks, and achieve the best possible pricing outcomes for our clients within their chosen risk profile.

*Work with the sales team to suggest trading strategies to prospective clients.

*Collaborate with clients to establish risk management policies.

Trading Execution:

*Execute trades in gas and power markets, considering market conditions, client requirements, and risk management guidelines.

*Monitor trade execution to ensure timely and accurate settlements, resolve any trade-related issues, and maintain trade records on the ZTP Kiveev platform.

Supplier Relationship Management:

*Develop and maintain strong relationships with energy suppliers trading desks.

*Stay updated with supplier offerings, negotiate favorable trading terms on flex contracts.

Client Support:

*Collaborate with the Sales and Account Management teams to understand client energy requirements and develop tailored energy procurement strategies.

*Provide expert advice and guidance to clients regarding market dynamics, pricing trends, and risk management strategies.

Systems:

*Be proactive in suggestions and development of ZTP software to enhance the efficiency of the role.

Person Specification

We are seeking someone who has a passion for working within the trading sector, within the energy market

Essential Knowledge Requirements

*Proficient in data analysis, using tools such as Excel, SQL, or Python, to analyze market data and generate reports

*Strong understanding of gas and power markets, including supply and demand dynamics, market participants, and trading mechanisms

Desirable Knowledge Requirements

*Energy Consultancy working environment

*Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in the UK energy market

*Advanced excel skills – Power BI

*Detailed knowledge of energy supplier product offerings

*4+ years experience

*Bachelors Degree
