About us

Modern Networks provides IT Support, connectivity, and communications in an easy to consume integrated solution to over 2,000 sites across the UK. This role sits within our Education Division, Wave 9 in our newly acquired offices in Stafford - approximately 25% of your time will be spent on our customer sites focusing on implementation, with the remainder of your time spent supporting our internet connectivity, safeguarding and security services from either your home or our offices.

What you’ll be doing

  • Installation, integration and commissioning of network, firewall and filtering solutions on customer sites.
  • Prestaging, initial configuration of network, firewall and filtering solutions.
  • Logistical and technical support to assist the running of the project and operations team.
  • Support desk cover, assisting customers via telephone, email, and the ticketing system.
  • Local Technician services to maintain and help support and maintain the companies IT environment.
  • On-site and remote IT technician services for education customers.
  • Replacing faulty or upgrading equipment on customer sites.
  • Liaise with third party carriers to troubleshoot connectivity issues using tools, ticketing systems, email, or telephone.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in configuration, installation and remote support of enterprise-class firewalls such as Sophos XGS, Fortigate or similar vendors.
  • Experience with the installation and configuration of LAN / WLAN network equipment - market-leading vendors such as Cisco, HP, Meraki, Juniper etc. preferable.
  • Experience of configuration and troubleshooting complex, and general networking issues
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role working to defined levels of service delivery.
  • Experience with delivering, supporting, and troubleshooting IT services in UK schools desirable, but not a deal-breaker!
  • Great Customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers at all levels.
  • Ability to accurately document customer issues and rectification actions.
  • Valid UK driving license and able to travel UK wide -the majority of the sites you will be supporting are in the East of England, but the role will require occasional visits further afield.
