The Job Opportunity

Roke provides technology innovation and consultancy to a variety of military users and are seeking talented Systems Engineers.

As a Senior Systems Engineer within Roke you will have the opportunity to help deliver a broad range of complex and challenging technical programmes within a dynamic and rewarding environment. You will be working closely alongside our defence Customers to ensure that innovative and effective solutions are developed for armed forces.

This is a Customer-facing role: Roke is looking for individuals who have the appropriate technical knowledge and who are able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
 
You will be a key participant in the design and delivery of a variety of strategic programmes and business critical initiatives and will be part of large-scale engagements where change and evolution of services contribute to this fascinating, and demanding environment.


Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for:
  • Working autonomously with other members of the team, Customers, Partners and Suppliers to research and analyse information, engage stakeholders, solve complex problems and present information.
  • Taking a lead role in building Customer relationships and planning, designing and developing projects, as technical expert. The role may give the opportunity to work on Customer site, from the office, in shared workspaces or from home as necessary.
  • Applying and adapting system design skills between specific areas of business challenge or opportunity, spanning a range of existing and emerging technologies including (but not limited to) electronic warfare, RF cyber, applications, middleware and radio bearers.
  • Providing systems expertise for planning and executing delivery of complex trials (integration and installation) and engineering tasks, nationally or overseas.
  • Providing technical support and advice to Customers on system requirements, design solutions, verification, and performance.
  • Liaising regularly with project management teams/Customer for progress reviews, ensuring technical delivery to time, cost and performance/quality whilst managing technical risks.


Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
The ideal candidate:
  • Will have a BEng/BSc and/or Master Degree in an appropriate Engineering/Computer science, Information systems or related subject.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience
The Senior Systems Engineer has demonstrated:
  • Strong Systems Engineering leadership experience, of the product development
  • Practical electronics experience in hardware, firmware and software, working with high-speed ADCs and RF
  • Experience in prototyping, NPD and NPI low-rate production environment.
  • Practical experience working with civil and military Customer.
  • Ability to design and develop technical documentation for engineering project (requirements compliance matrix, verification plans, test documentation, guidelines etc.).
  • Able to identify key issues and problems, analyse their complexity, form conclusions and identify options and implement the solutions.
  • Strong background in preparing and supporting:
  1. requirements elicitation and management, in a V-model management context.
  2. engineering lifecycle reviews.
  3. configuration management and baseline development through product lifecycle.
  4. knowledge and understanding of Electronic Warfare (C5ISR) and both Military and Civil Communications Systems
