About the role

In your role as IT Application Analyst you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset.

This role will provide a great opportunity to become a core member of the IT Change team, the role is to proactively support the delivery of the ITFM business plan and strategic initiatives by being accountable for analysing and capturing the technical requirements on any aspects of technology across the IT function.

What you will be doing

As a trusted part of the IT you will be responsible for:

  • Define the scope and agree high level aims with IT and Facilities stakeholders
  • Collaborate with business analysts and solutions architect to understand business requirements and provide technical analysis support for projects as instructed under the guidance of IT Project Managers
  • Define and capture detailed technical requirements across all aspects of the technology estate for the IT and Facilities functions with clear, concise documentation
  • Assisting the Enterprise Architecture function with application architecture documentation, solution design options
  • Assist with RFP/selection process for third party vendors where applicable, providing technical guidance and relevant documentation for evaluation of software
  • Actively research new product offerings and make recommendations on their usage and value within USS
  • Engage with external suppliers to understand product roadmap and offerings
  • Actively managing own workload, whilst supporting the IT Project Managers in the delivery of projects and initiatives
  • Actively keeping abreast of new and emerging technology, specifically those products and software in use within IT function and business
  • Liaising with IT technical teams to understand the current technology in use to support future technical requirements gathering and make recommendations
  • Develop close working relationships with the IT and Facilities teams
  • Ensure scope and detailed system requirements align with Enterprise Business Change Process

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Excellent understanding and general knowledge for all aspects of technology
  • Extensive prior experience in capturing technical and non-technical requirements
  • Ability to understand and summarise requirements in a way that they can be understood from both technical and non-technical aspect
  • Technical familiarity and experience in capturing application architecture documentation
  • Good relationship and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to engage with and gain the confidence of others as well as contribute or challenge where appropriate
  • Strong communication skills (written, pictorial, presentational and verbal) including the ability to adapt communications to different audiences
  • Able to manage own workload proactively and prioritise as required
