Here at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK we have an opportunity for a vmware specialist based at out head office in Maidenhead to provide support and technical guidance for critical areas of our IT infrastructure. Specifically , but not limited to vmware, fibre switching, storage and backups.

In return we offer a competitive salary, Car/Allowance, up to 20% Bonus, Healthcare, Pension. This role is a home based.

What will I be doing?

  • To own the Vmware, storage & back up environments, and be the subject matter expert.

  • To maintain and improve these core systems.
  • To be able to proactively look for and fix issues before they become customer impacting
  • To ensure we keep systems patched and up to date.
  • To produce capacity plans and strategy for budgetary purposes
  • To train other team members up
  • To produce quality documentation and process maps
  • To Create, submit and present a request for change for applications to the change advisory board (CAB)
  • To input and suggest improvements that impact the team as a whole
  • To react quickly to P1 issues and understand the importance of this role

What are the requirements?

  • Appropriate experience and knowledge to take full responsibility for these important systems

  • Ability to react quickly to major incidents and play an important role in diagnosing and fixing the issue.

  • Able to provide strategy for these areas.

  • Attention to detail and quality focus

  • Willing and able to pick up new skills, and accept limitations

  • Have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.

  • Enjoy problem solving and be logical.

  • Understand the role as part of an infrastructure team that supports 3,000 users and provides critical services.

  • Used to working with responsibility in an enterprise level company

  • Able to “own” these environments and improve them on their own while understanding the risks involved.

  • Able to understand that their changes may have an impact on other team members work and be open to discussion..

  • Ability to be able to discuss topics technically as well as being able to communicate effectively to non-technical people
