As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you are a core member of our software team delivering enterprise-quality software supporting local, national, and international customers across a range of solutions. This position has the possibility for cross group working, where you may be required to work across all 4 businesses, group wide, when required.

We strive to continuously improve our quality assurance methodologies and tools, all supported by strong Agile principles. Your role is a complex one, requiring testing of both GUIs and APIs across our web and desktop-based products; This requires a solid understanding of modern software architectures and development techniques.

This is a full-time role, core hours are 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday but we can offer a degree of flexibility with start and finish times. This position offers a hybrid working model which includes working from our offices in Bromsgrove (Birmingham) or Oldham (Manchester) one day every two weeks.

Purpose of the role

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will contribute to the implementation of our software solutions through aiding with the production of high-quality code. You will be involved in crucial stages of the development lifecycle throughout the build and deployment of our products and provide support post-deployment.

You will work with the team to deliver new functionality, as well as improving and maintaining existing solutions. You will contribute to planning activities whilst aligning your workload to team delivery timescales.

Responsibilities

  • Closely collaborate the product manager and development team, taking an active role in the whole development process.
  • Creating and executing test plans and reporting on their progress using Azure DevOps.
  • Ensure that your testing is in line with EPM defined standards and procedures.
  • Perform manual and automated software testing, working across all phases of the SDLC.
  • Working closely with developers to resolve issues.
  • Analise reported defects to assist in replication.
  • Verify issue fixes in a detailed, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Complete regression/verification testing as required.

Requirements

  • Strong Testing background with an excellent understanding of the SDLC.
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, test planning, and debugging; ideally having passed the ISTQB Software Testing Foundation exam.
  • Good written and verbal skills to communicate clearly.
  • Experienced with automated testing tools such as Postman, Cypress, and others.
  • Experienced with testing inside an agile development methodology.
  • Experienced using Azure DevOps for test management.
  • Experience with test planning and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience creating different sets of tests: functional, performance, non-functional, etc.
  • Be used to working on multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • Be able to work effectively within a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
