As a Database Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our company’s database systems. Your focus will be on ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and security. Areas of main focus will be:

• Proactively maintain the currency of the software/firmware/devices is maintained.
• Ensuring best practices are adopted and implemented.
• Proactively monitoring the database for performance issues and providing recommendations on remediation.
• Identify and escalate risks in the environment.
• Create and maintain accurate documentation of procedures and design.

Responsibilities Include

1. Database Design and Implementation:
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement efficient database structures.
   • Optimize data models for performance and scalability.
   • Ensure data integrity and security.
   • Implementation and design of database backups
2. Oracle/SQL Development:
   • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation.
   • Create stored procedures, triggers, and views.
   • Monitor query performance and fine-tune as needed.
   • Working knowledge of Oracle Webforms implantation and development
3. Oracle Database Administration:
   • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database software.
   • Perform regular backups and recovery operations.
   • Apply patches and upgrades to keep the system up-to-date.
   • Good working knowledge of Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager
4. Performance Tuning:
   • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
   • Optimize database parameters, indexes, and storage.
5. Data Security and Compliance:
   • Implement access controls and user permissions.
   • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
6. Troubleshooting and Support:
   • Investigate and resolve database-related issues promptly.
   • Provide technical support to development teams.
   • There will be an on-call ROTA (1x a week per month)
