We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced I.T. Manager to join our team at our Workington Mill. Joining us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return you will receive a competitive salary and become part of our welcoming team.

Holmen Board and Paper is a business area within Swedish Group Holmen AB The Workington Mill produces premium paperboard under the brand Incada. Our paperboard is an integral part of the shopping experience for our clients’ customers. Since 2013 we have powered the mill almost entirely by fossil fuel free energy. We value our employees and products highly. Today we are approximately 340 co-workers. Our integrated pulp and paperboard mill is located to the west of the beautiful Lake District in the north of England.

Your future challenge:

A new exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT Manager who will run and develop the IT department within budget frames, procedures and overall objectives of the Mill. The successful candidate will lead the IT department providing an efficient IT service to the business capable of delivering 24 x 365 operations mill-wide.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the successful candidate will:

  • Lead and engage the IT team
  • Ensure safety and security for all IT systems
  • Sustain and improve the reliability, availability and cost for IT systems
  • Manage and coordinate IT resources
  • Provide IT support during shuts and ensure smooth plant operations
  • Prioritise current and upcoming projects
  • Develop and implement plans for IT system sustainability

The successful I.T. Manager will desirably have:

  • An excellent knowledge of IT in a 24x365 business critical environment.
  • Excellent leadership and service management skills
  • A minimum qualification of HNC in an appropriate discipline, with a preference for degree
  • Excellent analytical, design and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Paper & Board industry or other process/advanced manufacturing industry.
  • An excellent knowledge of the companies’ processes.
  • Experience in both the working environment and Health & Safety.
