AWS Developer - Land Registration Automation Team

6 month contract
Outside IR35 £400 - £475/day
Remote with occasional travel to the office (Glasgow or Edinburgh office)


Summary:

My client is seeking an experienced developer with a solid background in commercial AWS development to join the Land Registration Automation team. The primary focus will be on research and development (R&D) activities to prototype an automation risk assessment ruleset for assessing submitted deeds suitability for automation. The role involves working with the AWS cloud platform and AWS AI services to address key challenges in land registration automation.

About the Team & Department:

The Land Registration Automation team is integral to the companies commitment to building a sustainable Digital Registration capability. The team conducts detailed analysis of the problem domain and engages in R&D to develop solutions for automating high-volume, relatively low-complexity casework. Key challenges include OCR and lexical analysis of deed documents, interpretation of unstructured textual content on Title Sheets, and automation of wet signature checks. The team collaborates closely with the Land Registration and Customer Facing domains to integrate solutions into existing digital registration platforms.


Requirements:
Main Outcomes & Objectives:

Lexical analysis of deed document content for automation risk assessment.
Lexical analysis of Title Sheet content to support automation of more complex casework.
Automation of wet signature checks using document analysis and AI ML techniques.
Production of an initial Standard Security automation service.

• Development of high-quality solutions with compliance to non-functional requirements.
• Troubleshooting development and production problems across various environments.
• Use of collaborative development practices, including pairing and mobbing techniques.
• Coaching and mentoring team members as needed.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Significant commercial experience with OCR, lexical analysis, NLP, and ML.
• AWS experience, including CDK, Serverless (Lambda), S3, API Gateway, Cloud Formation, Aurora/Postgres.
• Proficiency in Typescript/Python.
• Excellent software development with the ability to engage with stakeholders.
• Design and implementation of solutions using service-based and serverless architecture.
• Communication skills for explaining complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Cloud monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana) and experience with Agile delivery models.
• Formal XP engineering techniques and defining infrastructure-as-code.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

Experience with AWS AI and OCR services (Textract, Comprehend, Rekognition, SageMaker).
Java 11+.
Knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes/Docker.
