A well-established company in Glasgow are looking for a Data Engineer to fill a newly created position. The organisation is known for providing financial consultation and have been well established for a long time. The role has arisen due to a mix of GDPR and the need to handle data ‘better’ as well as larger amounts of data needing to be processed through a multitude of teams.

This is a newly dedicated role for the large amounts of data that needs to be processed and you will also be designing databases, the data warehouse as well as working with cloud-based technologies. The Data Science function is currently using R heavily and the Analytics practice is the fastest growing part of the business.

The company are a large user of Microsoft technologies and they are in the process of migrating all of their systems to Azure. Traditionally they have always worked with SQL BI tools including SSIS, SSAS and SSRS but have also been using PowerBI as of late. The role is ideally based from the Glasgow office, as most of the team are there, however they would consider people from the Edinburgh office too.

Key Skills and Experience:

** Experience of building scalable data pipelines

** Experience of designing and implementing systems to effectively handle large volumes of data

** Building and designing data warehouses and ETL development

** Knowledge of SQL Server 2012/2016/2017 as well as T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS

** Visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau or QlikView

** Interest in the Microsoft Azure DW/Analytics toolset, including Azure DW, Azure SQL DB, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake and Databricks

** Knowledge of R or Python

If you are interested in the role and want to work within a growing analytics practice, please apply or give Hamish at Cathcart Associates a call.
