This is a Support Role working for the Deskside Support Service in MoJ Digital & Technology & requires working in a prison environment. Although the job is working with prison staff and other agencies, it does frequently mean coming into contact with prisoners.
The work primarily involves being a point of contact between sites and our providers of IT services. Although this is a role working in IT, you do not need to have a strong knowledge of technical knowledge to carry out the work. An ability to be organised, use computers and have a professional telephone manner and writing style are more important. You will be given the training you need, and will be part of a national team. There are ample mechanisms in place to help you with day to day questions.
Work comes primarily to the Deskside Support Manager via telephone and email. It needs to be inputted onto a web portal so that cases can be raised for the suppliers to carry out. This may involve dealing with multi-parties, and arranging engineer visits to site, and collaborating with site to agree their provision of escorts. There are other parts of the role which include data gathering and reporting, responding to queries and assisting sites with local requirements.
This role covers a wide geographic area so it is essential that you are able to travel. The sites to be covered physically are HMP Exeter (Exeter), HMP Dartmoor (Princeton) and HMP Channings Wood (Newton Abbot). Your 'base' site would most likely be closest to your home address, but you would be expected to travel to the other two on a weekly basis.
This is a full time position, 37 hours per week paying £9.13 rising to £10.59 after 12 weeks.
A standard DBS and full CTC vetting is required for this position.
