Job Purpose

We are looking for a talented Senior Backend Developer with expertise in Python, mySQL and Architecture to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in building scalable and high-performance architectures that support consumer facing web and mobile applications.

Key Responsibilities

·       Develop and maintain APIs and Services for web and mobile applications

·       Commercial experience building backend for B2C and B2B experience on web and mobile

·       Familiar with architecture patterns e.g. microservices and event driven architectures

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement user-friendly interfaces

·       Experience working in agile thinking teams using methods such as Kanban, Scrum and XP.

·       Work within an international team to ensure clear communication across different roles within the teams.

·       Ideally has recently line managed a team

·       Optimise application performance and ensure responsiveness across various devices

·       Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices

Requirements

·       Proven experience as a Backend Engineer with Python in a microservices architecture

·       Strong architecture background – you need to be able to write code

·       Strong understanding of Typescript and GraphQL

·       Familiar with Elastic Search index and search

·       Familiarity with both relational (specifically mySQL) and NoSQL databases

·       Experience building RESTful APIs and integrating with 3rd parties in a SaaS based scenario.

·       Understanding of testing, for example with PyTest or similar

·       Consider the reusability of code, components, and module development while writing code.

·       Familiarity with techniques such as Continuous Integration and Delivery.

·       Experience with Cloud Platforms ideally AWS.

·       An advocate of automation at all levels from unit to performance testing.

·       Has code review capabilities and is to help and guide other engineers with their code submissions

·       Any exposure to AI or ML would be very welcome e.g. OpenAI etc.

·       Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, cross-border international environment

·       Self-starter attitude, with the ability to work independently to resolve issues and research findings.

·       Good written English documentation skills to communicate with others via written documentation formats
